More than 1,100 people would see a pollinator garden and its associated educational material annually with help from a $5,000 Ohio EPA Education grant to the Licking County Health Department. The five-acre garden and its associated signage will be at the health department’s 20-acre campus.

More than 10,000 Delaware-area residents will have an opportunity to learn about watersheds with help from a $4,800 Ohio EPA Education grant to the Delaware Soil and Water Conservation District. The grant will fund a state-of-the-art topographic 3-D map design station to help teach students about topographic maps and landforms.

Ohio EPA has approved a $300,000 principal forgiveness loan to Fayette County to help qualifying homeowners address failing septic systems. This funding is offered through Ohio EPA’s Home Sewage Treatment Systems (HSTS) Repair/Replacement Program for 2017.

February 2, 2017 Ashville Receiving Financing from Ohio EPA for Wastewater Treatment Improvements
Ashville will improve water quality in Walnut Creek when the village constructs the sewer portion of its new wastewater treatment plant with help from a $1.064 million low-interest Ohio EPA loan. Together, the new sewers and treatment plant will help prevent the release of untreated wastewater into Walnut Creek. Past releases of untreated sewage have led to the stream being designated nonattainment for recreational uses.

Columbus will improve water quality in Alum Creek when the city completes improvements to the Alum Creek Storm Tank (ACST) facility. The work is being financed primarily through a $1.842 million low-interest Ohio EPA loan. Columbus will provide the remaining $246,000.

The proposed rehabilitation will not only help ensure continued, effective pump station operations but also improve reliability, making it easier to maintain and troubleshoot the system.
