Ohio EPA has issued a Water Quality Certification for the Kinder Morgan Utopia pipeline to be built in Harrison, Carroll, Tuscarawas, Stark, Wayne, Ashland, Richland, Huron, Seneca, Sandusky, Wood, Henry, Lucas and Fulton counties.

The Ohio Diesel Emissions Reduction Grant (DERG) Program has awarded 30 grants totaling more than $12.8 million for refurbishing or replacing aging diesel engines with newer, cleaner diesel technology or alternative fuel technology on school and transit buses and other vehicles.

Ohio EPA is considering an application to renew an installation and operating permit for Chemical Solvents Inc. (CSI), for the company’s 1010 Denison Avenue facility in Cleveland. CSI operates a commercial hazardous waste treatment, storage and recycling facility at the site.

Approximately 800 junior high students will reduce their cafeteria waste by as much as 35 percent with help from a $16,053 Ohio EPA Education grant to Boardman Glenwood Junior High School. Students will sort their food waste following lunch – placing compostable waste in an EarthTub composting system.
December 13, 2016 Akron to Improve Sewer System with Two Project Loans from Ohio EPA; Will Save Akron an Estimated $20 Million
Ohio EPA has approved two loans for the city of Akron, an almost $7.4 million loan, and a $47.5 million loan, to assist in constructing the Old Main sewer separation and upgrade the water treatment process to help bring the city into compliance while improving the water quality of the Little Cuyahoga and Cuyahoga Rivers.

Ohio EPA has approved a $14.68 million loan for the city of Akron to assist in the construction of the Merriman sewer separation project. The Water Pollution Control Loan Fund (WPCLF) project will help bring Akron into compliance and improve the water quality of the Cuyahoga River.

The modified draft permit that requires an update to allow the facility to meet U.S. EPA’s more stringent emissions requirements for the 1-hour sulfur dioxide (SO2) standard, set by U.S. EPA in 2010.
