Ohio EPA Accepting Public Comments on Proposal to Remove Beneficial Use Impairment from Ashtabula River Area of Concern
Ohio EPA will hold a public meeting on a proposal to remove a Beneficial Use Impairment from the federally designated Ashtabula River Area of Concern (AOC). The meeting will be held Dec. 4, 2017, at 6 p.m. in Meeting Room A at the Harbor-Topky Memorial Library, 1633 Walnut Blvd., Ashtabula.

State of Ohio Releases Latest Version of Plan to Reduce Nutrients in Lake Erie Basin
The Ohio Lake Erie Commission and the State of Ohio have completed the Ohio Domestic Action Plan (DAP) 1.0 to reduce phosphorus entering Lake Erie under the binational Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement with a goal of reducing phosphorus loading to Lake Erie by 40 percent by 2025. This version of the Ohio DAP is being provided to U.S. EPA for review and comment and to serve as Ohio’s part of the US Domestic Action Plan, the final version of which is due in Feb. 2018.

The loans are among 25 projects statewide that received funding from Ohio EPA in July, totaling $475 million, a one-month record for the loan programs

The Ohio Lake Erie Commission and the State of Ohio have released a draft Ohio Domestic Action Plan to reduce phosphorus entering Lake Erie under the binational Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement with a goal of reducing phosphorus loading to Lake Erie by 40 percent by 2025. The Commission will host two public meetings on Sept. 12 and 13, 2017, to provide information about the draft plan.

State of Ohio Releases Framework to Reduce Nutrients in Lake Erie Basin
The State of Ohio has released the framework that is being used to reduce phosphorus entering Lake Erie under the Western Basin of Lake Erie Collaborative Agreement, which was signed in June 2015 by Ohio Lt. Governor Mary Taylor, Michigan and Ontario with a goal of reducing phosphorus loading to Lake Erie by 20 percent by 2020 and 40 percent by 2025.

Toledo to Improve Wastewater Treatment and Protect High-Quality Wetlands; Receives Financing from Ohio EPA
Toledo will improve water quality in the Maumee River when the city installs an underground storage pipeline and basin to help minimize the effects of combined sewer overflows via its E3 International Park Storage Pipeline project. The project will be paid for in part through a $26.2 million low-interest loan from Ohio EPA’s Water Pollution Control Loan Fund.
