Central District Office Division of Hazardous Waste Manaagement Program Description

Program Description

The Hazardous Waste Group in Central District Office (CDO) is responsible to provide full service assistance to all of our customers in the ten county area we serve. This area includes Delaware, Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Knox, Licking, Madison, Morrow, Pickaway and Union Counties. Our customers include facility operators, consultants, local health departments, private citizens, environmental activist groups and others.

The group monitors hazardous waste from its creation to its final disposal - commonly called cradle-to-grave regulation. State and federal hazardous waste rules set standards for generators; treatment, storage and disposal facilities; and transporters. Generators produce hazardous waste. Transporters haul or transport hazardous waste from generators to facilities. Facilities that treat, store or dispose of hazardous waste must obtain a permit from Ohio EPA.

The Division of Hazardous Waste Management in the Central District Office is responsible for inspecting hazardous waste generators and treatment, storage and disposal facilities in the ten (10) county district. The Division also reviews permits and closure plans along with overseeing corrective action sites. The Division also provides technical assistance where needed and encourages pollution prevention activities.
