Division of Surface Water Credible Data - Regulatory activities requiring level 3 data




Credible Data is a program that classifies surface water monitoring performed by watershed groups, state agencies, schools, local volunteers and other organizations. Ohio EPA uses the data submitted under the program in ways prescribed by State law.

Regulatory activities that require Level 3 credible data:

   1. Establishing water quality standard use designations.
   2. Determining whether a water body meets water quality standards.
   3. Reporting water quality conditions pursuant to Section 305(b) of the Clean Water Act.
   4. Listing impaired waters pursuant to Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act.
   5. Establishing a TMDL for a water body.
