Division of Surface Water Sport Fish Consumption Advisory

Ohio Sport Fish Health Advisory Web Site

Here you will find information on fish consumption advisories issued by the Ohio Department of Health for sport fish caught in Ohio waters. The Department of Health, in cooperation with Ohio EPA and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, issues this advice under Ohio law (Ohio Revised Code Chapter 3701).

This Web site was updated with new advisory information on March 4, 2009.

Note:  The fish advisory for Grand Lake St. Marys can be found on the Grand Lakes St. Marys advisory page. The advice mirrors the statewide advisory for fish, and also allows for consumption of up to 2 meals per week of largemouth bass.

Although the statewide advisory was issued due to mercury, Ohio EPA believes that the advisory is also protective of microcystin toxin exposure due to blue-green algae blooms.

More information about microcystin in Grand Lake St. Marys is on the Grand Lake St. Marys Toxic Algae page.
