The operator certification program helps to ensure that the operation of public water systems and wastewater systems are under the supervision of technically competent operators to protect human health and surface water quality. Operators of public water systems or wastewater systems in Ohio are required to demonstrate their competence through a written examination in order to obtain certification from Ohio EPA.
