Holding Tanks
General Information
Holding tanks for sewage are permissible when no sanitary sewers are readily available, when sanitary sewers are being proposed but will not be available for up to 12 months, or when an existing onsite wastewater treatment & dispersal system has failed and sewers are not available. Holding tanks for industrial wastewater are generally acceptable with proper permits and construction.

Additional Holding Tank Information
A PTI for a holding tank must also include:
- Audio/Visual High Water Alarm
- Copy of contract between applicant and hauler
- Copy of contract between hauler and POTW accepting the waste for sewage
