Emergency Response
The Ohio EPA, Emergency Response Unit at the Northwest District Office oversees remediation of spills or releases to the environment from agricultural businesses, industrial facilities, transportation (highway, rail and shipping) accidents and residential sources. Releases to the environment include: petroleum products (such as gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene and lubrication oils), chemicals used in everyday life, and other non-hazardous materials (such as milk and molasses spills). Ohio EPA, NWDO, ER also provides technical assistance and training to public agencies and the private sector concerning emergency notification, hazardous materials response, spill cleanup procedures, and spill prevention.
