May 14, 2019 The Buckeye State Investing in a Sustainable Recycling System
COLUMBUS, OH (May 14, 2019) – The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA), solid waste management districts (SWMDs), material recovery facilities (MRFs), haulers, Ohio communities and The Recycling Partnership (The Partnership) are coming together to tackle the issue of non-recyclable trash in recycling by investing in education and outreach in pilot areas around the state. Six grants have been awarded to a strategically and geographically diverse group of communities that represent four different major MRFsheds within Ohio to work with The Partnership to create the best model for replicable success statewide

October 23, 2018 Ohio EPA Announces $15 Million in First Round ‘VW Settlement Grants’ to Improve Air Quality
Ohio EPA has selected 21 VW Mitigation Grant recipients for projects geared toward reducing nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from diesel vehicles and equipment. NOx emissions are significant contributors to ground-level ozone pollution. This first round of funding from Ohio’s portion of the national Volkswagen settlement directs $15 million toward replacing diesel engines in the state’s counties that presently do not meet federal air quality standards for ozone.

June 25, 2018 Former Lancaster Lab Analyst Convicted, Sentenced for Falsifying Drinking Water Data
Ryan Guisinger, a former Lancaster City drinking water plant employee, was sentenced last week in Fairfield County Common Pleas Court for a felony conviction of falsifying data. Guisinger’s crimes date back to 2015 and 2016 when the lab analyst was caught entering false data rather than processing and recording actual treatment analysis.
