March 19, 2020 Lake Erie Protection Fund Grants Available through Ohio Lake Erie Commission
The Ohio Lake Erie Commission announces applications are available for the Lake Erie Protection Fund Grant for projects in the Ohio Lake Erie watershed. Grants up to $50,000 will be considered during the current grant cycle. Applications are due May 1, 2020 with selections to be announced at the Ohio Lake Erie Commission meeting on June 17, 2020. Projects should address at least one of the Draft 2020 Lake Erie Protection & Restoration Plan Strategic Objectives.

February 27, 2020 Ohio EPA Hosting Meeting about Sandusky Harbor Dredging
Ohio EPA will hold a public meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, to accept comments on a proposal to dredge the Sandusky Harbor federal navigational channel. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Buffalo, N.Y., has applied for a water quality certification for the project. The meeting will be held at Erie County Downtown Office Building, 247 Columbus Ave., Sandusky.

Sandusky -- The Ohio Lake Erie Commission released its draft Lake Erie Protection & Restoration Plan 2020 (LEPR) for public comment. The LEPR, last published in 2016, reflects actions that the Ohio Lake Erie Commission and its member agencies will take over the next several years to protect, preserve, and restore our Great Lake. The State’s actions complement federal and local partners’ initiatives in the Lake Erie basin and across the region.

January 27, 2020 Ohio EPA Approves Proposed Well Site
Artesian of Pioneer’s application to site a drinking water well near the village of Fayette has been approved by Ohio EPA. The action only approves the siting of one well at the location. Approval of a single well site is different than approving detailed plans for a new public water system, and it is the first step in a multi-step process required if a new public water system is planned.
December 6, 2019 Ohio EPA Announces Funding for Williams County Infrastructure
Today, Ohio EPA announced an infrastructure project aimed at improving water quality as part of Gov. Mike DeWine’s H2Ohio initiative. Williams County will receive $500,000 in H2Ohio funding for its project to construct a new wastewater collection and treatment system that will serve approximately 90 homes in the unincorporated area of Kunkle.
