June 4, 2019 $15 million in Volkswagen settlement grants available in 26 counties
Ohio EPA is announcing that $15 million in Volkswagen settlement grants is now available to assist with replacing or repowering aging diesel fleet vehicles in 26 priority counties where emission reductions are most needed in order to comply with federal ozone standards. Eligible applicants include public and private fleet owners of school and transit buses, medium and heavy-duty trucks, switcher locomotives, tugboats, ferries, and cargo handling equipment in airports and ports.

COLUMBUS, OH (May 14, 2019) – The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA), solid waste management districts (SWMDs), material recovery facilities (MRFs), haulers, Ohio communities and The Recycling Partnership (The Partnership) are coming together to tackle the issue of non-recyclable trash in recycling by investing in education and outreach in pilot areas around the state. Ohio EPA will hold a public information session and hearing at 6 p.m. on April 2, 2019, to discuss a proposed expansion of Rumpke Waste & Recycling’s Hughes Road Landfill that, if approved, would bring the landfill’s footprint to 939 acres. The information session will be at the Colerain Township Community Center, 4300 Springdale Road, Cincinnati.

Business leaders, nonprofit representatives and educators who are interested in learning more about Ohio EPA’s Environmental Education grants, other funding resource ideas and the do’s/don’ts of grant writing are encouraged to register for free grant writing workshops. Ohio EPA is offering the free, two-part, one-day training sessions to help would-be applicants decide which grants work for their organizations and how to write a winning grant proposal.
January 31, 2019 Southwest Ohio Communities Receive $2 Million in Financing from Ohio EPA for Wastewater, Drinking Water Infrastructure Improvements
Communities in Southwest Ohio are receiving more than $2 million in low-interest and principal forgiveness funding from Ohio EPA to improve wastewater and drinking water infrastructure and make other water quality improvements. The loans were approved between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, 2018.

Ohio EPA will host a public meeting on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, about the receipt of a wastewater discharge permit renewal application for the Richard Renneker drinking water treatment plant. The permit renewal application includes a new discharge from a proposed water treatment softening system.
