As a precautionary response to COVID-19, Ohio EPA is currently operating with most staff working remotely. After March 23, our district offices and Central Office will be temporarily closed and will have increasingly limited ability to receive deliveries, plans, etc. All entities are encouraged to submit plans, permit applications, etc., electronically where there are existing avenues to do so, such as the eBusiness Center (eBiz). Please refer to the list of available services on the main eBiz webpage. We encourage you to make use of all that apply, even if you have not used eBiz in the past. Plans under 25 MB can be emailed. For large plans over 25 MB, entities should work with the reviewer/division to upload via LiquidFiles. Directions for submitting docs via LiquidFiles is available on YouTube. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you in advance for your understanding. If you wish to send hard copies of documents to any of Ohio EPA’s district offices, the best method to ensure we receive these documents is to send them via U.S. Mail. Since all offices are closed, deliveries outside of U.S. Mail (FedEx, UPS) will likely be returned because the offices are closed and deliveries cannot be made.

Learn How To Find the Right Grant and Write a Winning Grant Proposal

Free Workshop Wednesday, June 8, at Fallen Timbers Visitor Center

Potential grantees will have the opportunity to learn grant review from the inside out at Ohio EPA’s Grant Writing 101/102 class to be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Fallen Timbers Visitor Center, 4949 Jerome Road, Maumee.

One of the best ways to become a better grant writer is to review others’ proposals. Participants will practice scoring applications using Ohio Environmental Education Fund’s (OEEF) preferred characteristics for projects targeting a pre-school to university audience. Learn about OEEF and the online Grants Management System using the eBusiness Center. Participants will be certified as OEEF volunteer peer reviewers. This will be a six-hour interactive workshop.

Materials and grant writing information are provided free of charge. Lunch is on your own with many options close by. To attend the workshop, register by email before the close of business June 3, 2016: Dennis.Clement@epa.ohio.gov.

Additional workshops are planned for 2016. Dates and locations will be announced and posted at www.epa.ohio.gov/oee. The Ohio Environmental Education Fund offers several different free workshops. Organizations that would be interested in hosting a local workshop may contact oeef@epa.ohio.gov.

OEEF provides approximately $1 million annually in grants for environmental education projects targeting pre-school through university students and teachers, the adult general public and the regulated community.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency was created in 1972 to consolidate efforts to protect and improve air quality, water quality and waste management in Ohio. Since then, air pollutants dropped by as much as 90 percent; large rivers meeting standards improved from 21 percent to 89 percent; and hundreds of polluting, open dumps were replaced with engineered landfills and an increased emphasis on waste reduction and recycling.
