Ohio EPA Meeting Set for Earnhart Hill Regional Water and Sewer District

Information Session and Hearing Scheduled Feb. 27, 2019

Ohio EPA will hold a public meeting to discuss the receipt of applications for a wastewater discharge permit modification and a permit-to-install that would allow Earnhart Hill Regional Water and Sewer District Wastewater Treatment Plant to upgrade wastewater collection and treatment.

An information session will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, at the Pickaway County District Library – Main Branch, 1160 N. Court St., Circleville, immediately followed by a hearing to accept public comments on the permit applications.

Earnhart Hill Regional Water and Sewer District is proposing to install a chlorination/de-chlorination unit, in which wastewater will be disinfected by chlorine and then chlorine will be removed from the wastewater before it is discharged.

The proposed project, if approved, may result in a change from current water quality conditions, but cannot violate Ohio’s water quality standards that protect human health and the environment. Ohio EPA will consider technical, economic, social and environmental aspects of the project before deciding whether to issue or deny the permits. The wastewater treatment plant discharges to the Scioto River.

Ohio EPA will accept written comments on the permit application through March 13, 2019. Anyone may submit comments or request to be on the mailing list for information. To comment or receive information on the permit applications, write to: Ohio EPA-DSW, Permits Processing Unit, P.O. Box 1049, Columbus, Ohio 43216-1049 or email epa.dswcomments@epa.ohio.gov.
