Ohio EPA Recruiting Summer Interns at Youngstown State

Ohio EPA is looking for college students who want challenging, meaningful summer jobs. An Ohio EPA internship is an opportunity to explore careers in the environmental field while working with experienced professionals.

Ohio EPA is hosting a series of intern recruiting events on campuses around the state, including one at Youngstown State University on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Moser Hall Room 2400.

These paid internships typically put students in the field with Ohio EPA Division of Surface Water staff sampling fish, macroinvertebrates and water chemistry, conducting computer modeling and working on projects and permitting. Internships also are available in drinking and ground water, air pollution control, environmental services laboratory, law and information technology.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency was created in 1972 to consolidate efforts to protect and improve air quality, water quality and waste management in Ohio. Since then, air pollutants dropped by as much as 90 percent; large rivers meeting standards improved from 21 percent to 89 percent; and hundreds of polluting, open dumps were replaced with engineered landfills and an increased emphasis on waste reduction and recycling.
