November 26, 2019 Ohio EPA Announces Funding for Pomeroy Infrastructure
Today, Ohio EPA announced the first infrastructure project aimed at improving water quality throughout Ohio as part of Gov. Mike DeWine’s H2Ohio initiative. The Village of Pomeroy will receive $500,000 in H2Ohio funding toward its project to extend sewer lines to approximately 80 homes along S.R. 833 that currently have failing home sewage treatment systems.
June 7, 2019 Ohio EPA Announces Recipients of Statewide Mosquito Control Grants
Ohio EPA Director Laurie A. Stevenson and Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton, MD, MPH, today announced nearly $660,000 in funding for community health departments and related public entities across the state for mosquito control grants. The funding will help mitigate the spread of mosquito-borne viruses such as Zika, West Nile and La Cross Encephalitis.

January 8, 2019 State to Invest Nearly $10 Million to Help Protect Lake Erie
Toledo, OH – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and Ohio EPA recently received approval from the State Controlling Board to begin funding nearly $10 million in projects aimed toward helping to keep dredged material out of Lake Erie. These projects are part of Ohio’s “Healthy Lake Erie Fund” efforts and will be managed by local officials and sponsors from Toledo, Lorain and Conneaut, the communities where these monies are being invested. These projects represent a portion of a Ohio’s dredged material management program developed jointly by the Ohio EPA, ODNR, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with input from local stakeholders
January 7, 2019 Ohio EPA Offering Nearly $3 Million Total in Grants for Nonpoint Source Reduction
Ohio EPA is requesting proposals for implementation projects to reduce nonpoint source pollutants, such as nutrients, sediment and bacteria; improve stream and riparian habitat; or reverse the impacts of stream hydromodification. Nearly $3 million in grants is expected to be available.

April 27, 2018 2018 Ohio Sport Fish Consumption Advisory Highlights Significant Improvements
Ohio EPA has announced the state’s new guidelines for eating fish caught from Ohio’s lakes, rivers and streams. Fish can be part of a healthy diet. Unless otherwise notated in the new recommendations, a general advisory is in place that recommends limiting to one meal each week of Ohio-caught fish.
April 16, 2018 Ohio EPA Updates Findings on Sources of Nutrients Impacting Ohio Waters
As required by state legislation signed in 2015 (House Bill 64), Ohio EPA has completed its second statewide study identifying sources and estimating the annual amount of phosphorus and other nutrients flowing from the state’s watersheds into Lake Erie and the Ohio River. The study covers the Maumee, Portage, Sandusky, Vermilion, Cuyahoga, Great Miami, Scioto and Muskingum watersheds, and includes some direct tributaries to Lake Erie, which collectively represent surface water quality from 66 percent of the entire state.
February 27, 2018 ARCO Site Cleanup Complete
The pile of more than 300,000 cubic yards of illegally disposed construction and demolition debris waste at the ARCO Recycling site has been removed following an eight-month cleanup. The more than $8.8 million cleanup was paid for by Ohio EPA and done in cooperation with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, the city of East Cleveland, the Cleveland Division of Air Quality and the Cuyahoga County Executive’s Office.
